February 10, 2025

Economic development leaders from across Georgia gathered in Atlanta last week to discuss strategic initiatives aimed at fostering growth in Southwest Georgia. Hosted by the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission (ADEDC) in partnership with the Georgia Power Economic Development team, the event brought together key project managers to share updates and insights on the region’s economic landscape.

Held at the Georgia Power Experience Center, the meeting included representatives from the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Georgia Power, Electric Cities of Georgia, and Georgia EMC. This collaborative effort provided a platform for engaging discussions on economic opportunities, infrastructure advancements, and future initiatives in the Albany-Dougherty region.

Jana Dyke, President & CEO of ADEDC, led the conversation with an update on recent achievements and developments. Her presentation highlighted ongoing economic progress, significant infrastructure projects, and emerging opportunities poised to enhance growth in the region.

“This is another great step in the economic development process,” said Scott Purvis, Georgia Power’s Regional Economic Development Manager for the South Region. “Communities making the time to come to Atlanta is so important, and we’re always proud to partner with ADEDC in strengthening economic opportunities across Georgia.”

The event underscored the importance of collaboration between state agencies, utility providers, and local economic development organizations in driving sustainable growth. By fostering relationships and exchanging valuable insights, these stakeholders are working together to enhance job creation, business expansion, and infrastructure improvements in Southwest Georgia.
