Albany-Dougherty Day: Advocating for Our Community at the State Capitol
February 10, 2025
Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission (ADEDC) had an incredible experience participating in the largest delegation yet at the Georgia State Capitol for Albany-Dougherty Day! Over the course of two days, our CEO, Jana Dyke, and Director of Business Relations, Marvin Oliver, represented ADEDC in advocating for our community's key legislative priorities.
Key discussions centered on crucial issues such as civil litigation reform, which is essential for maintaining a competitive business environment. Additional focus was placed on legislative initiatives, including military spouse employment policies and securing funding for the VECTR Center to better support our veterans.
Attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with Georgia state leaders on policies impacting Albany-Dougherty, from education to healthcare. These conversations ensure our community remains on the path of legislative progress and economic vitality.
Beyond policy discussions, Albany-Dougherty Day provided valuable networking opportunities. The legislative reception and community dinner allowed local leaders to connect with decision-makers, fostering relationships that will help drive continued growth and collaboration.
Through strategic advocacy and strong partnerships, we are shaping a brighter future for Albany and Southwest Georgia!
