A Record-Breaking Moment: Jana Dyke Leads the Largest SEDC Conference in History

August 15, 2025

The Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission is proud to celebrate a milestone achievement for our region and for one of our own. At the 2025 Southern Economic Development Council (SEDC) Annual Conference in Oklahoma City, history was made as the event welcomed its largest attendance ever — all under the leadership of ADEDC’s President & CEO, Jana Dyke, who currently serves as the 2025 SEDC Chairwoman.

Representing 17 states across the American South, SEDC is the nation’s oldest and largest regional economic development association. Its annual conference is the premier gathering of economic developers, community leaders, and industry experts who come together to share ideas, foster collaboration, and celebrate growth.

As Chairwoman, Jana played a central role in shaping this year’s record-breaking conference, bringing together the world’s top economy builders to exchange best practices and spark innovation across the South. From keynote sessions to networking opportunities, the event underscored the South’s position as one of the most dynamic and competitive regions for business and industry.

From the SEDC Stage to National Headlines

A highlight of the conference came when Jana had the honor of interviewing Kansas City Federal Reserve President Jeff Schmid live on stage. Their discussion on monetary policy quickly grabbed national attention, with Schmid’s remarks featured in MSN Money the very next day.

One of his key insights:

“Monetary policy is not very restrictive… and given recent price pressures, a modestly restrictive stance is exactly where we want to be.”

Shining a National Spotlight on Southwest Georgia

For Albany-Dougherty County, Jana’s leadership on the regional and national stage highlights the strength of our local economic development ecosystem. Her role ensures that the voice of Southwest Georgia is heard among key decision-makers and innovators shaping the future of the South.

We couldn’t be prouder of Jana and the leadership she continues to demonstrate on behalf of our community. Congratulations on steering a record-breaking conference that reflects both the success of SEDC and the bright future of economic development in our region.
