Rail Service

Norfolk Southern’s Class I railroad offers industries switching capability seven days a week through the Albany railyard. Rail lines from the Albany railyard feed directly into Cordele’s intermodal yard and the Georgia Ports System. Companies who need access to a short line can partner with Georgia Florida Railway, a member of the OmniTRAX portfolio for service. Georgia Florida Railway lines extend from southwest Georgia to northwest Florida, offering interchanges through both Norfolk Southern & CSXT in Albany and Thomasville respectively.

Airport

Albany’s Southwest Georgia Regional Airport (KABY) is situated on 980 acres is adjacent to the Pecan Grove Industrial Park.  The Southwest Georgia regional airport is Georgia’s second largest cargo airport by volume, with an on-site UPS sorting facility which services Southwest Georgia, Florida and Alabama. The Southwest Georgia Regional Airport offers three nonstop, Delta flights to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) in Atlanta, daily. The Southwest Georgia Regional Airport boasts two runways, one of which is a 6,601-foot grooved asphalt runway with the second a 5,219-foot crosswind grooved asphalt runway. Additional features of the Southwest Georgia Regional airport include aircraft tie downs; hangar rentals; lighted runways; precision and non-precision approaches. The airport features a privately managed, full-service, fixed-base operator. The airport has a cargo parking apron for expanded cargo operations and room for cargo carrier expansion.

A recent announcement of a multi-phase $15.3 million project with a new 5,500 square foot FBO terminal and 47,000 foot asphalt apron with fencing and utilities was made. Completion of the project is anticipated by 2023.
