AT&T makes contribution to workforce development through Albany Tech's Industrial Operations Tech programAlbany, Ga. – As part of the company’s continuing commitment to supporting workforce development efforts and strong local economies, AT&T is contributing $5,000 to the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission (ADEDC) for workforce development initiatives. The ADEDC will utilize this contribution in support of the recently announced Industrial Operations Technician certificate of credit at Albany Technical College.

The program, announced July 12 by the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission and its Albany-Dougherty Industry Roundtable in partnership with Albany Technical College’s Center for Business Solutions (CBS) and the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), is the first of its kind in Georgia and will expose students to a variety of manufacturing principles, including Lean Six Sigma certification, operations management, industrial mechanics and interpersonal skills.

“We are proud to support Albany Technical College’s CBS, and the efforts being made by them as they work alongside the Albany-Dougherty EDC and its Albany-Dougherty Industry Roundtable,” said Courtney Brinson, regional director of external affairs with AT&T Georgia. “These partnerships are great examples of the type of community commitment that is necessary to help ensure that our workforce boasts the modern skills that attract new employers and help employers who are already in the area continue to be successful and create even more jobs.”

“Success requires strong community collaboration,” said Justin Strickland, ADEDC President. “AT&T’s financial commitment to the ADEDC’s workforce development effort supports initiatives that have tangible benefits for our industries and our citizens. We’re appreciative of AT&T’s support and proud to call them a partner.”
